Kentucky Craft Brewers Form Guild

Support and development of State Brewers Guilds remains a major focus of the Brewers Association in 2012. The addition of Acacia Coast, the trade group’s State Brewers Association Coordinator has helped the BA become more of a resource for existing and fledgling guilds. Acacia has been busy crisscrossing the country attending state brewers association meetings with many of them centered on initial guild formation.

Recently, nine breweries from across the state of Kentucky have united to form the Kentucky Guild of Brewers (KGB).

CREATION OF THE KENTUCKY GUILD OF BREWERS

The Kentucky Guild of Brewers (KGB) was organized to provide a unifying voice for the microbrewers and brewpubs of Kentucky. The KGB exists to pursue the following objectives:  to act as a singular voice and advocate for the Kentucky brewing industry in all pertinent matters of legislation and governmental administration; to evenly promote all member breweries through the organization of events and publication of media; and to amalgamate the knowledge and economic sway of member breweries. The Guild is organized and operated exclusively for nonprofit purposes.

The KGB is governed by a Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is comprised of officers nominated and elected by member breweries and brewpubs. There are nine founding members located throughout Kentucky. The duty of the Board of Directors is to further the mission and purposes of the Guild.

The Board of Directors officers are:

Adam Watson (Against the Grain Louisville) – President
Phillip Dearner (Bluegrass Brewing Co Louisville) – Vice President
Lee Rossman (Lore Danville) – Secretary
